The Study of English

A major in English will bring the world to you:

  • Travel back in time to the campfires of the Anglo-Saxons.
  • Travel forward in time to experience the thrills of the undiscovered future.
  • Travel today's world to find out what's happening in other places through the literature of Nigeria, Russia, Germany, France, Spain, Colombia, Norway, South Africa--and the whole world.

A major in English will help you understand people:

  • You'll become friends with centuries-old characters who will make you laugh, cry, and think.
  • You'll learn about the people of the past and appreciate the people of the present.
  • And you'll even discover your own independent voice and creative style.

A major in English will also develop your communication skills:

  • writing
  • speaking
  • visual design
  • listening
  • thinking
  • problem solving

You'll discover that the benefits will be boundless in the "real world."
