What's New

  1. Spanish - Southern Wesleyan University will be offering Beginning Spanish in the Fall semester of 2007. Additional levels will be added in future semesters.

  2. TESOL - Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages.

    Southern Wesleyan University offers all of the courses required for add-on certification for teachers.

    These courses are also helpful for ministers, missionaries, and business people who work in diverse settings.

    The courses include:

    ENGL 3103 - Principles and Strategies for Teaching TESOL
    ENGL 4203 - Modern Grammar and Linguistics
    ENGL 4303 - History of the English Language
    EDUC 3153 - Teaching Reading and Writing to Limited English Proficient (LEP) Learners
    EDUC 3163 - Testing/Assessment for Language Minority Learners
    ENGL 4813 - Practicum in the Instruction of TESOL

  3. General Education requirements taught by Modern Languages have changed. Beginning with the Fall of 2007, students will take Freshman English I and II, World Cultural Literature and Speech Communication to meet general education requirements in English.
